Netroots For The Troops® is holding a blogathon this week, Feb. 20-24, to raise funds to send Care Packages to soldiers overseas and, this year for the first time, we are also sending Care Packages domestically to VA hospitals.
In tonight's roundup of blogathon diaries, kossacks share personal and family perspectives of military service, showing why receiving Care Packages is so important to both our soldiers and their families:
- Elizabeth Warren, who will soon be an outstanding new Senator, wrote a moving diary, Honoring our Servicemembers, Veterans, and Military Families, about her own military family and how she created an advocacy office to protect the military community from scams.
- Richard Cranium describes his personal submarine service in Netroots for the Troops: The Family Gram, telling us about the advances in technology over the years in communicating with family back home, moving from telegrams to videos.
- TheFatLadySings shared her own amusing and interesting perspective as a former Navy officer's wife in Netroots for the Troops: The Wrong Stuff.
- angelajean wrote about her own experiences as a wife of a deployed husband and what is done to help children missing their mom or dad in Netroots for the Troops: Deployment is a Dirty Word.
- Proud Mom and Grandma points out the ongoing concern a mother has even after a son has returned home from war in NFTT: The "Anythings" After 3 Deployments.
